Speech given by at the Soul Train Awards April 4, 2000

Some people find it odd that when we win anything in this game, we give praise back un2 God. Well in somebody else's game, any triumph makes us feel blessed. When its ur game, u make the rules, everything comes easy. All of ur friends r in key positions so when u decide u don't want 2 play anymore, u never leave empty-handed. Can somebody say "golden parachute"?

Well it's not ur game. U didn't make the rules so everything comes hard. As long as u're signed 2 a contract, u're going 2 take a minority share of the winnings. A select few of us will do well. The majority will not. So as a people, we'll be considered a minority.

But stop - let's take a moment and look at urselves.

There's nothing minor about u. U r a blessed people. U're the most talented on Earth and u r still grateful. That is y upon winning in their game, u always thank God. 2night eye would like 2 ask one favor of u. Imagine what we'll all be like in our own game.
