U Make My Sun Shine / When Will We B Paid?

    page 2:

    Greetings
That was quite an adventure and very entertaining. I wasn't quite sure what was going to happen in the end let alone know that Prince was giving his fams a gift. When I finally received my gift I thought that this was a very creative way to distribute music. Giving it away as a gift. I will cherish and pass on this gift of love and awareness to everyone I know.
I can't seem to express how much joy and appreciation I have for Prince. A true show. A show of love from Prince to his fams. WHAT A GREAT AND INNOVATIVE MAN OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM. He just doesn't stop, he gets better as life goes on.
He is my inspiration in my everyday life, without him my world would be quite boring. Well, that is all for now with much love and appreciation. Everyone at the website keep up with the great ideas that keep the fams jumpin.

What can I say, these jointz are real hot the vocals on them both are really top class. U Make My Sunshine is a truly beautiful ballad and in my opinion cut in the way the old school would do it (is there a better way,I think not).Angie also has a truly great voice. When will we be paid is also excellent glad to hear the guitar, when you two get together it is just to much. Both songs have something that is missing from so much music nowadays - feeling. Thank you for sharing these beautiful creations with us and i've got to tell you that the path we had to follow to arrive was truly worth it (Enjoyed it,fun). I am really looking forward to your next release and if these two jointz are a taste of things to come I can honestly say that it will be kicking. Prince carry on keeping the music real and don't stay away from Europe for to long because we are missing the vibes here.
    Peace Love and Happiness

I think that there should be a way to make a donation (in response to the release of the new Jams), via the 800-NEW-FUNK website. I want to pay for both these Jams released at npgonlineltd.com right now. I will pay by check in the mean time....

When the music makes me hungry 2 hear more its just allright. A good song from prince makes my day pray.
Yo...To All O' U out there that digs this the way I do......Finally we are hearing the man emerging to something new again, something that he hasn't done for a long time. With prince joined up wit Chuck D of Public Enemy in the battle for music over the internet and against the big labels we can't simply lose.....the music will remember him for this for sure

    Peace &B Wild

I have 2 take this time 2 say thank you. "U Make My Sun Shine" is as great of a song as I was told it was. 2 make that song and "When Will Be Paid" accessible 2 your true fams 4 free displays a level of generosity and appreciation that no other performer has shown. I feel so strongly about the music that is produced and the important messages that lie therein. It's strange to realize that Prince is just a man with strong convictions yet just a man..going through the same struggle of life that we all are. I am truly inspired by the NPG 4 allowing the material 2 B freely distributed and 4 challenging those enterprising individuals 2 send a cut of any profits made to 1800NEWFUNK. This is truly an amazing experiment.

Now..I have 2 explain why the song, "When Will We Be Paid" is so important. I heard a snippet of the song on the intro 2 this site some time ago. I loved the beat and hoped it would B released soon. Now....I have just finished listening 2 the song. I never knew the importance of the lyrics 2 the song. I am proud to be an African American. Our people have so much 2 be proud of. We have come a long way...yet have a long way 2 go. It is so important that we take every advantage that we can to be who God wants us to be, because there were people who died hoping we'd have this chance.

God Bless U all. Hope 2 see Prince in Raleigh, North Carolina next year.

    Ed

Yeah, two really cool tracks these. Yet more appetite-wetting for a new album methinks. Been a fan since I heard The Beautiful Ones in 1989- and you still come out sounding like it's the first time I heard ya.
Please, please come to South Africa Mr N.

    U Make My Sun Shine

1st song 2 make me cry 4 a long time...

    Thanx.

Yo, If there's one single person who can keep the realism in music today, it is most definitely you. Keep bringin' the broad spectrum of colors that you bring to an artform that needs a revival. Us real cats are vibin' ya hard so we'll know which direction to go. Inspire us some more with your brand of FUNKROCKCLASSICALJAZZWORLDHOPANDLOVE!!!!!!!!!!
OK..I'll begin with U MAKE MY SUN SHINE......
U know where this joint takes me?Back 2 like 1974 I was bout' 8 or so(damn I'm tellin my age, yeah yeah I know dawg time is a trick & I keep tellin myself that but u know even the truth takes a min.. 2 sink in sometimes U HEARD?)Anyway like I was sayin, I was bout 8 years old livin in the Boogie down (the Bronx 4 those of u who r confused:-) and my Moms would throw these parties every now & again 4 her and her peeps and they would be playin the hottest joints in the world as I knew it @ that time.I'm talkin bout Al Green(let's stay 2gether) Joe Tex(I Got Ya) The Chi-Lites (write a letter 2 myself) U knowwhat I'm sayin & that was only in the livin room . Now in the back bedroom which I shared with my older brother who was born the same year as Prince I got a whole other education cuz he was playin joints like Standing on the verge(Funkadelic) Maggot Brain(same)Mirror(GSC)Fencewalk(Mandrill)
U get the picture all this and @ the same time I'm watching HIP_HOP be born right in front of my very eyes!!!!! It was a wonderful time 2 breathe I guess I had no choice but 2 make music b-cuz in a very real sense Music Made Me!!!!! & it's most likely Y I connected with Prince's music @ such an early age(check da' video tape dunn u'r peeps interviewed me I was straight @ the Bottom Line 12 years old singin every word with U salute !) So I say all this 2 say that sunshine brings me back 2 that very wonderful time. A time when I trusted cuz I knew no other way. I love cuz it was only natrual and the Music was as honest as a infants 1st shreek upon entering this cold world..And dawg it's not easy 2 catch that time on tape........U feel me It's nice 2 know that after all u been through there's a part of u that u was able 2 connect with and make me feel all of that again Thanx Dawg............
Now When Will We Be Paid ...............
Rage\Funk\Beat Bangin'\Grinding\Painful as the truth some times is\Thought provoking\Loving(the word WE made it that alone) And most of all ...........?
    A VERY GOOD QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    2 words-- I'm gone............Free 1
First of all, the works are profound, especially "when will we b paid". I think the song really speaks to people. More importantly, it rings loudly the bell of TRUTH...."those who have ears, let them listen".

I deeply believe that these works reveal your journey as you search for truth, and when you find it, you share it with the world. It is said that, those who say, don't know, and those who know, don't say. Thank you for knowing AND saying. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

    Maryam Amira

    Good Gawd!
Ooooooooh Lawd......These tracks are so on point....I just hafta know why they're not an album available in the stores. I knew When will we be paid was awesome ever since the Fairfax Hit n Run show. Little did I know just how awesome it was gonna be on a studio version. The track with Angie Stone is sooooooooooo good.....it makes me wanna cuss or sumfin (and I'm trying to quit cursing). To quote one of my friends....as far as the new joints go......"Goodness gracious on a popsickle stick"......

    Peace....(and to Prince....release dem songz)
    don

Thank you, Prince, for continuing to remind me of what is truly important in this life. So few people are willing to take the risks and the spiritual stance that you have throughout the years. Your music has always given me the insight needed to redirect my NRG and work for what is right and positive. These songs are beautiful--thank you again and may God continue to bless you.
    Much love,
    Melissa
Thank You for the jamz. This is the New Power Generation I've been dreaming of. Phat jamz at my disposal. I'm not poetic enough to give your music it's proper respect. Just trust, that we're feeling it..."to da bone"! Keep'em coming.

    PS -
On behalf of Dallas, TX, please forgive those that couldn't control themselves at the concert. Maybe, we can figure out a way so that true famz and those of us who are daily visitors of NPGONLINELTD can get the VIP seats. We were on the front row and still got trampled. Dallas loves you so, come back soon.

    NEW POWER SOUL,
    JARED & PATRICIA

    To fams:
If U like the songs, request them. No radio requests = no radio play = excuses from radio programmers/directors to not play the music that you want to hear. Hate all of the emptiness resonating from your speakers? In the words of Chuck D, SHUT 'EM DOWN.
Peace. Love. And all of the above.
so far so pleased. eye like them all as usual. my fav soul brother always comes through. he's always bresaking new ground with new sound.Ill never foget the first time eye loged on 2 npgonline. i think i was up until about 3 in the morning. Thank u 1nce again brotha-from cainaan-
If "u make my sunshine" doesn't get played, then I'll KNOW for a fact that Prince has been "black"listed. The song just makes me want to turn on a green light, rest my head on a plush pillow and close my eyes -- i.e. ZONE OUT. "When Will We B Paid" definitely will B played on those days when I'm frustrated with dealing with a bunch of haughty news reporters. Best believe it! These two songs are wonderful beginnings to a good CD.
NOW THAT'S What I'm talking about. Both songs are tight. Let's see if the narrow minds at radio will play theses joints!!! Can't wait for the album to drop!!!
The music is very much appretiated. I'm sure I not only speak 4 myself, but many other "fams" when I say, we would gladly send NPG part of "the bounty." It's the least we can do 2 show our appretiation 4 the on going creativity that U never hesitate 2 share with us. Thank U again. God bless. Peace

    Dorothy

Prince, u never fail 2 produce GREAT songs that inspire peace and love."When Will We B Paid" is on the level in contrast 2 the "gangster"rap 2day. . I knew u would come through and I still love u 4 it. Feels good don't it. It makes u wonder on all the triles and "tribbs" they went through then and unfortuneatly STILL 2day "R the checks in the mail?!?!?. My LP brothers "need 2 represent".Keep up the good work, I'm still witcha', u got momz shoutin' ((sing it Prince)).
    PS. Dont forget Rosie.!!

    Rodriguez Nashville, TN

hi, i know u get alot of mail so i'll keep it short, I just wanted 2 say thanx 2 prince and all the people @ npgonline 4 putting up those 2 new songs, i don't want 2 sound like stan but i'm not working right now and things sometimes get hard but u're music helps me wake up in the morning, and i know it might not seem like much but u've got my respect.
    thanx man
    peace

I have only had the opportunity to listen to U Make My Sunshine so far.... it brought me to tears with a smile....what more can I say....incredibly beautiful truth held in that song and within the voices and instruments that so honored that truth.
Love is always the most influence tool ;-) Left me Breathless.
Oops Prince has done it again!  The man is ahead of the times. "When will we be paid" should be the anthem for reparations for African-Americans and other oppressed people who have been historically oppressed in America.

    Follow the sun...

What a perfect gift 4 this time of year!! Loved the cool graphix and game to reveal the new downloads!! Never ceases to amaze!! Peace for the new millennium!!

What can I say that has not already been said? I loved hearing "When will we B paid for the work we've done?" in Richmond and I am reliving that night again and loving every minute of it :)
As for "U make my Sunshine", Mr Nelson U make my sunshine at night :) U have had my ear forever and Ms. Stone has had it for a little while but the blend of voices was excellent. It "feels" right listening to the two of you communicate. BRAVO! on the new jams and keep them coming!
My check is in the mail and if U are ever in need of another vocalist with heart and soul... sent me a shout...LOL

    Peace and Love

Absolutely fabulous. I can't get enough of the beautiful music coming from Paisley Park. The duet was beautiful, and When Will We B Paid is so moving. Very spiritual, and uplifting. Keep it coming, my man, it gets better every time. Thank you so much, I can't wait to hear more.

    when will we b paid??? - In Heaven !! see u there :) peace..Patti
I am so feeling these new joints, got me xcited 2 c the new albums(s) coming 2001. Raw and Intense.
    Very organic sound.
Much love 2 the Prince and The NPG!!

The Sun is freedom. The Sun is not sorrow, no more tears, The Sun is God's love 4 man kind.
Now why are you messin' with us. Just come on out with a whole album of the new joints and stop makin' us beg. Santana came back and took over the airwaves with music and message, not it's the NPG's turn.

"You Make My Sun Shine" is ripe to blow up (just hook up a smooth video like "Somebody's Somebody") and "When Will We Be Paid" is to powerful for radio.

    Detroit Dre

Alright, I have no idea what cryptic reference you're looking for me to catch, but I just feel the need to communicate to whoever reads these messages that the work Prince does -- and that you do, whoever you are, as a part of his world -- animates my entire life in ways that can only be described as mystical or lyrical or something like that. His music has provided and continues to provide the soundtrack to my life. One of my peak moments on the planet was hearing "One of Us" at one of the Jam of the Year small hall shows in DC. I grew up in Mpls and have since moved back and was at as many of the till dawnz (spelling?) as having a pregnant wife allowed me to be this summer. What other superstar opens his space for fams like me to jam with for $7? For what it's worth, I'm a white guy who's married to a black woman and my love of Prince has been a big bridge to several of her key familiy members, including her younger brother who is a big hip-hop head and attending Hampton University. So you've built bridges in very personal ways for me lately. Speaking of lately, I wanna be on record as saying that as compelling as I find hearing the old music, I want you to know that it's the new music that moves me. Don't give a shit if they don't play u on the radio. We're listening. And living.

    kent
p.s. brought my 5 year-old stepdaughter to the Northrup show and Maceo held her in the lobby during a break. another peak experience, and on and on.

Whew ..... exactly why I keep comin' back 4 more!
WOW!!! - my check's in the mail
    Steve...
these songs are great, and truly are an inspiration for all the little creative sound artists working in their home studios.
