The shows in D.C. were unbelievable!!!!!!! Sat. nite I took a friend who hadn't seen Prince since the 80's....she was blown away and so was I. The performances by Larry Graham, Maceo and Prince were so uniquely special and the love and spiritual connection felt by the people in the audiance was something I have never experienced at that level before.

Thank you for coming to D. C. Come back soon.

from Maria aka "ladycabdriver"

I'm speechless about this show....it was SO SPECIAL for a few reasons, 1: it was at midnight, so I KNEW Prince was gonna turn it out, 2: the crowd was HYPED THE WHOLE NIGHT!!!!! I hadn't seen Prince in a little over a year so I was MISSING him! And MAN what a warm welcome DC gave to PRince, and he reciprocated with some hard core FUNK!!!!!
Friday nites show was TRULY SPECIAL FOR ME!!!! This is band is UNDENIABLY tight! Renato, Rhonda (omg) John (YIKES!) AND Mr. Parker!!!! WOW Mr. Boyer!!!!!! (YAAAHOOO!!) Thank you Prince and NPG for an INCREDIBLE night that DC will never ever forget!!! This was HANDS DOWN the BEST tour you've done since LOVESEXY!!!!! End of discussion!!!!!

I am glad I didn't go to the hairdresser because I would have wasted my money! My hair was soaking wet, sweat was dripping down the back of my legs, and I had the greatest time. It pays to be in the NPG club. Seat location is extremely important especially if you are an old head like me! When Prince hit that Roller Coaster (ooops, don't want to spoil anything ) but, oh man cool was out the window! I even ran to the front of the stage on Raspberry Beret like I was 15 all over again (that's how old I was when that joint first hit!). What a show!!! 3 hours isn't long enough. Only downside to my night was not going to the soundcheck but I'm not mad at all!!! I was in the 5th row baby! Thanks for hitting all of my "Wish LIist Songs". You hit two of my all time favorites "Sometimes It Snow In April" (because that's my name) and "Anna Stesia"! Prince, if you do read this I just want you to know that I in no way meant to violate your space when I grabbed you leg, but you stood right in front of me and well, I had been waiting for that moment since I was 13. All I want is to give you a big hug and kiss on the cheek!

Without getting long winded, I will keep this brief. The show was off the hook! I had one of the best time of my life on Friday night. I am so glad that I joined the NPG Music club because it made all the difference (5th row baby!). Everything was incredible, the set, the lights, the sound (big shout out to Scottie, you are the man). Prince is INCREDIBLE! ...But you already know that..... If you know what is good for you, you will get you a ticket by any means necessary and get on down to the Prince show and get your complete groove on musically, mentally, spiritually (Atlanta watch out!). Thanks for all of the music! And thanks for hitting "Sometimes It Snows In April"....for obvious reasons....

I just recently joined the NPGMC in Feb 2002. I had to wait to come down off my natural high from the Midnight show before I could speak about the night. I'll remember the moment forever. I was at work one day and just felt a vibe that Prince and the NPG would be coming around soon. I must say, the Midnight show @ the Warner Theater in DC was awesome. I was in row "F" center.......Playboy sweater. Prince and the NPG definitely blessed us with the FUNK! Prince came off the stage and walk a few rows into the crowd. Causing pandemonium anytime he came to our side of the stage the rest of the night. I'd like to say it was the best concert of his that I've ever seen, but ALL the concerts are so great! During the show I'm always thinking when is the next time I'll be able to experience Prince and the NPG again. I was only able to obtain tickets for the Midnight show due to the password situation with the Ticket master web site. I would've been there for all 3 shows and any sound checks. $125 per ticket?!?! I'LL PAY WHATEVER IT COST!!!! All people, members of the FAM or not, should have been able to truly say that they witnessed an outstanding show! Prince jammed the guitar straight down to the bone. At one point he lost a string. Without missing a beat another guitar was substituted while the guitar was re-strung. I've been to every show in the DC, MD, VA area since 1983 with the exception of the show at the MCI center. After missing that show I told myself that I wouldn't miss another show again, even if I have to attend by myself. Once your at the venue your amongst friends and FAM! I thoroughly enjoyed the Rainbow Children when it was initially released but I have a new respect for the Rainbow Children body of work after seeing the live performance. The live performance is always the closer, so to speak.

I have yet to make my pilgrimage to Paisley Park, but it's coming.

Prince and the NPG, COME BACK SOON!

FAMILY NAME...........can u dig those lyrics!

She's always in my hair.

Scott, NPGMC Premium member FEB2002 and forever!

Well first off, let me begin by saying I have been following Prince since 1981. I'm a true fam of his music and image, but music first. I don't really listen 2 other artists the way I listen 2 Prince. Anyway the Friday 29th March Midnite show was nothing LESS than TOTAL AMAZEMENT. I've seen Prince over the years like many of U, and I must seriously say (not coming from U're regular fam) that this show truly JAMMED. If U R a MUSIC fam of Prince, and not so stuck on the image and all, this is a concert 4 U. I admit, The Rainbow Children didn't catch my ear when I 1rst heard it out at the PARK last year, even though I pretty much grew up in the TRUTH, which he sings about these days. Which is also really amazing, a man I've followed all these years finally found something I knew all along, and was actually singing about it (talk about ironic). Well, when I finally listened 2 the CD I was really embarrassed that I slept on this CD. It was the BEST CD he has put out in a long time; I'm talkin' real vintage PRINCE here. Anyway THE SHOW: He was really in a good mood last night, I figured. It was midnite, he had a little rest between concerts and was here in DC. It began of course with The Rainbow Children. Oh B4 I 4get, the NPGMC members ruled last night-everything went so SMOOTH from getting the tix 2 the wait in line (FAST).We were all up front (NPGMC). I had 3rd row (AWESOME). Back 2 the show. I knew it was gonna b a good show, something a little different being it was midnite, (hmmmm) but it was pretty much the same concert list as the previous 1's. Muse 2 the Pharaoh (2nd song) was great live, especially at the break where he performed the knowledgeable rap (the beat was FUNKY). The Xenophobia jam was awesome; it seemed like it went on 4ever (GREAT). Mellow was cool, jazzy and funky (great live). 1+1+1=3 was JAMMIN', but wish he would have done more singing in the song instead of all the breakdowns-but who am I. Anyway, AWESOME JAM, love the song. Rollercoaster was REALLY JAMMIN', the audience was really feelin' that 1, and the energy level there was amazing. Prince was really getting down on that 1. When U Were Mine was a GREAT performance. Family Name (1 of my favorites) was.... I don't know what 2 say, let's say I was 1 of the only 1's standing in the section. I don't know why people were sitting during this 1. The MAN tore it up COMPLETELY, I was truly feelin' it and he was 2 (AWESOME). Avalanche was an ear opener, and surprisingly a lot of people were feelin' that song- I was 2 (PRETTY SONG). The song, everyone probably knows, is about age old RACISM that's still MORE present than ever. Maceo, Greg and Prince JAMMED on I believe was Pass the Peas, I'm not sure but it was great. La La La was cool, the audience was in2 that also (old heads) :) . As the night went on, we entered Prince's radio station WNPG on your Paisley dial, as he offered us the CLASSIC Strange Relationship (DYNOMITE). He really rocked that song; I was truly in2 it. The piano medley was AWESOME also. Sort of like the other set lists, but taken and added a few like Nothing Compares 2 U...Adore....Sometimes it Snows....Condition of the Heart......Girls and Boys....Beautiful Ones....REAL FUN. Anna Stesia was very POWERFUL, like mentioned B4 from the other concerts (LOVED IT). All in all, this concert was 1 of the best concerts Prince pulled out in a while. BELIEVE ME, worth every penny 2 me. Thanx 4 the memories Prince, and the chance 2 see U in the "new system of things." Also, thanx 4 letting me see U perform some of U're songs off that "AMAZING, I CAN'T BELIEVE MUSIC CAN SOUND THIS PERFECT CD, THE RAINBOW CHILDREN." I'm a true Prince fam, so anyone in2 him and his music deeply like me, (AND I MEAN JUST ABOUT EVERY ALBUM) this is a serious XPERIENCE 4 U 2 see. NJOY! OH also LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN. Try the truth, it's FREE.

This was my first Prince concert to ever attend. I am 40 years old. And have always been a, I guess you call them FANs. I dont know much of Prince's "private" life. Having 5 (wonderful) kids of my own, I like keeping my private life to myself. But I seen the difference in his way of singing. He use to to sing from from mind. He seems to sing now from his heart. Which tell us more of his "private" life. I sure wish he would have sang "I love you in me" MY FAVORITE!! I was going to yell it out but I was in row H and I am only 5ft 2in. And probably would not have been heard. Anyway, being divorced once I can just imagine what this man had been through. For one, just being in love is a whole different story. I have only been in love once and boy the heartache of the break up almost takes all the energy one has (so I stay away from that area). To many places to go to many things to do. And it dont mix. But anyway I was a little sad because I was really looking forward to attending the sound check or the after party. I drove 3 hours and waited in my hotel for midnight, but have to say it was still worth the wait. Prince you did look a little tired yourself though. Hey it was late. I am hoping NPG and Prince will be in the Virginia area through his tour and I will attend them with hopes of attending the sound checks and party. I have never paid to see anybody in concert I am not much of a concert person but I do love music. Growing up in a musician family I learned at a young age to appreciate music. And realized it was a gift from God. I use to not even like those "love songs" they use to sing, like especially the oldies because I use to think " yeah right, where does this love exist". I was in love once and found out once could or did or maybe I just thought it did exist but when Prince sings of Love it is as if it does still exist out there in this world. Now when he use to sing of the SEX, well we all know that exist. That can exist with anybody, anytime. As I was leaving the concert a couple approached me and asked me what I thought of the concert, I told them I was amazed at how wonderful his voice was and how great he looked. I also mentioned at one time how it use to be "Prince and the revolution" but now it was more like NPG and Prince. Which I think was the wisest business choice decision he could have ever made. You (the band ) were GREAT. Well anyway this couple told me they thought that they were short changed and ripped off. I told them, the times have changed, people change and in this business some things have to change also. I also heard a gentleman trying to sell a Prince T-shirt and I heard the other man tell the gentleman he would not pay a dime for that shirt. My point? A performer, a Producer, a writer what ever has to be done shall be done and one can only please some of the people some of the time and some people just dont understand. And those? Oh who needs um. We have each other! Right! Just do what you are all doing, You are doing GREAT! And Please pass this on to Prince, (remember there is only one TRUE love that exist, and that is the love for yourself). Dont take it away!! Dont give it away!! Dont let anybody take it from you. Prince when you are 50 or 60 and grey haired and you have very few REAL friends still around, remember, You did something, you filled the hearts of so many souls who NEEDED to at least "think" that the love that you sang of was real. Like " I love you in me". Oh one more thing, while standing in line I heard some people talking about how some celebrities had just passed on. And I heard one gentleman say he hoped you did not die before he did. I thought that was so cute. Prince, at the concert you asked was it better to be a leader or a follower. I have 4 sons. and I have always taught them to be there own leader and there own follower. And you I see as that!! And this is what makes you, YOU.

Well, I have 2 start out by saying -- I stand corrected. At the celebration last year, I clearly didn't feel TRC, I thought it needed a hit 2 make it a commercial success. I wanted Prince 2 be on the top of the charts like he so deserves. Nevertheless, it rocks LIVE. The DC show was SPECTULAR. I have seen Prince in concert many a times over the years and this one moved immediately 2 the top of the list. It ranks right at the top with the Lovesexy Tour. Prince captivated me from the very 1st note. The delivery, the high notes, the dance moves and the priceless expressions on top of the playfulness won me over.

The new band is TIGHT. I thought it would be odd not to see Mr. Hayes in the NPG but Renato earned his strips with me. And no one every told me that Greg Boyer was so cute -- whew. Much props to Blackwell, I have always held that Michael Bland was the best drummer 2 grace the NPG, well, lawd have mercy that man can play.

The highlights are 2 many 2 name but the piano medley with "Condition of the Heart," "Adore," "Sometimes it snows in April," and "Nothing Compares 2 U" just broke this sista right on down. "Avalanche" has 2 be released; if not 2 radio, 2 the NPGMC. It's the kind of song that NEEDS 2 be heard by the masses. Furthermore, I wish Alicia Keys could have been there 2 see how it's really done since that brotha had DC on its feet with "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore."

I have 2 give big props 2 the NPGMC, I was on Row A, right in front of Prince and it was worth every dollar spent. I had a wonderful time singing along and basking in his energy. Thank U Prince 4 allowing us 2 share one nite alone w/ U. Peace

from Raddahone

It was and still is another beautiful night in DC with Prince, the NPG, and the NPG music club fams. With the show starting at a bit past midnight (yes - midnight as scheduled!) and the midnight atmosphere being so relaxing and calm, this was just the best place to be…eye feel that the highlight of the night was Prince playing piano because he plays the children/songs from his portfolio and it seems like he could play piano all night and he keep us jumping and screaming and getting tearie eyed just having a good time. And, being with the NPG family this time of year is just so everything...can there be anything better than spending one of the most blessed weekends of the year with family?…joining with 2 or more and knowing that He is here/there with us. Love is in our hearts.
