Kansas City, MO on April 12 (16 reports)

from Rhonda

Last night's show in Kansas City was the best. My husband and I travaled from Lincoln Nebraska, to and from in the same night. I am pretty tired today, but last night was well worth it. We got to KC about 3:00 and drove by the theatre to make sure we knew where to go. After getting a quick bite to eat, we went and joined the other club members in line. It was about 4:15 when we got there and had to wait until 5:00 before they let us in, but I knew we had to get there early to get a good seat. I wish now we would have skipped eating and just waited in line, so we could have been up front. While waiting in line we met some cool people, and found out some had travaled farther than we did. One couple came from Minneapolis and two girls flew in from Chicago. Crazy how far people will traval to see their favarite artist. Beleave me, it was well worth every mile, every penny paid and every hour without sleep. When we got to go in, we could hear the band playing "Adore". As we went in we could see Rhonda, Maceo and the other band members playing, and I could hear Prince talking to them but I couldn't see him. My husband told me to look back a few rows, and there he was just sitting talking to the band. It was very cool. I felt like we were all there just hanging out with a bunch of friends. The sound check was great. To see Prince up close working and having so much fun at it. My husband and I both wished we had that much fun at work. Prince seemed to feel very at ease with us being there and was joking a lot with us. People often miss that humerous side of him. The show itself was the best I've ever seen. Mainly because we were so close and we were sitting with people who love his music as much as I do. I loved all the songs he played and sang along with all of them. My voice was very horse when it was over. I'm glad he sang "How come you don't call me anymore". I like Alicia Keys, and she does sing that song well, but nobody plays a Prince song like Prince. The only sad thing about the whole night was when it was over. I was a little disapointed when there was no after party, but after reading some of the other fam reports, I understand they had a long way to go that night. We had some travaling to do ourselves. I think Prince made up for it by playing for two and a half hours. Prince if you read this, I loved the show, you just keep getting better. I hope you make it around again soon. Hopefully a little closer to home, maybe Omaha? I would love to go again in the near future. Be safe out on the road and look forward to hearing new music.

Prince,

u have 1nce again touched the hearts and souls of many in this area with the music and message u bring. Being my 9th time of seeing u n concert, i am just amazied the more at way the show effects me as it does everyone else. This paticular time i took my best friends little sister and her best friend to see u as they have been fams of urs for just a long as i have. (since the for u days, for those of u that dont know thats the beginning.) They were virgins to the entire Prince experience in concert. On the way up from wichita we talked prince and the npg, and i told them to expect the unexpected. not to compare this show to any other that they had ever seen, because this show will touch the very soul of u. ( if u think he's deep on record, see the show, and as prince would say......bring ur scuba gear). well needless to say prince u held up and even surpassed anything i could have ever imagined. the show was wonderful. words truly cant describe or even do justice to how u made us feel during and after the show. The NPG....is tighter than ever. I must say this now......after the show was over and we were all back at the hotel. I asked my friends what was the highlight of the evening for them. 1 of them stated it was when u came back out on stage for the encore and sat down at the keys and said. y dont yall sit down and relax and let me sing 2 u for a while.....she said u was just talking to her and she was so excited that she couldnt sit down. The other said it was when one of the lights was shining directly on her and as u were singing u looked directly at her. My highlight of the evening was when u sang, (yea,....i said sang) ADORE.....i love that song. and as i said earlier i have seen u 9 times in concert, and in everyone one i would hope u would preform that song but never got it....no i wasnt disappointed, just wanted more. But this time u came through for me.......at that very moment i sat back in my seat and just listened as my trully fav. song came 2 life. THANK YOU from the deepth of my heart. We r already looking for the next time u grace us with ur presents again.

May God bless u and the Holy Spirit keep u

Peace,

After hearing Rainbow Children I knew that no matter what I was gon' hav'ta see him perform these songs live. This album is beyond the music because it is an intimate look at this evolved person and artist. In my opinion this is by far one of his rawest and most honest cds. In the past listening to Prince was like reading the Bible, he spoke in parables and left it up to the listener to interrupt what he was saying but now there is no doubt what he is saying about God, history, life, and pure/innocent love. And its most befitting that the jazzest music he's ever released is the most honest .

I've seen him in concert many times but Friday nights concert was the best and after seeign this cd live it is confirmed that Prince is not only deep but he is 'conscious'. He is, a Black man in America that is on a spiritual journey.

He is so soulful with his mannerisms, dialect, and how he plays with the crowd. My friend kept leaning over and excitedly saying to me, "Girl, he is Black!"

The audience was his nutrients as he fed himself on the crowds energy. Unlike the Columbus crowd (I went to that show as well) the K.C. crowd was crunk from the beginning to the end. It was also a treat for me to hear old stuff like Beautiful Strange, Sometimes It Snows in April, Anna Statia (sp), How Come You Don't Call Me (THE ORIGINAL), Do Me, Adore, and though I didn't expect it he did Purple Rain. Getting this complete show full of the new joints and the ol' Prince showed that he is a multidimensional. He is conscious, freaky, in-love, out of love and all those shades of gray inbetween.

I don't think the crowd was ready for the Erykah Badu song of Didn't Cha Know but me and my friend were geeked that he gave her love, we belted out the words along with him and Rhonda. And they also weren't ready for the whole Abraham Lincoln/Family Name section. I even had to jumped up and give him a church hand wave and a, "Boy, you betta teach". "Abraham Lincoln was a racist," her said. <> At the end he was cognizant and made sure to end with his message of "God is love.....". It hit home that his message is beyond the music. Overall this concert was one of the best I've seen in the last two years ranking up there with Me'Shell Ndgeocello, E. Badu, and Dead Prez.

This concert and cd more than his previous ones answered a lot of questions. As a little girl growing up in Chicago I was very intrigued with this man's music and his lyrics. He was R & B, Soul, Gospel, and Rock-n-Roll all mixed up together but, I use to watch Prince videos and wonder where are the sistas in his video? In a sense I guess I was questioning his "soulfullness", because I couldn't understand how could this man with all these elements of the Diaspora so evident in his music not be "Black". (Black in terms of consciousness). I've also have had this sorta love hate relationship with Prince. Giving him daps for always showcasing female musicians but also popping him on his knuckles for sometimes exploiting them as well. Even with these concerns, over the years, I never stopped listening to or buying his music b/c I am a lover of GOOD AND REAL music.

All this to say, Prince gets a Soul Clap from me.

Many people thought I was nuts to drive 5 hours for a concert, but I've never missed an opportunity to see Prince. I've been a fan for 25+ years and have seen him several times before but nothing compared to this! My appreciation and admiration for Prince, the NPG and the music has grown expontentially- which is hard to believe possible. Thank you for the best experience I've ever had! Wished it didn't have to end. The soundcheck was an awesome experience. The Club Members were great- everyone was so friendly and so casual. It was like a bunch of friends hanging out listening to Prince of all people, jam tunes. What a trip. It was well worth it! Thanks for the last 25 years and for Friday night!

from K8

In a world were unselfish giving and true gratitude are lacking, I would like to sincerely THANK YOU for GIVING me the experience of a lifetime.

My life as a Prince fan began in 1984 at Wal-Mart in Emporia, KS which is a small town sustained by a meat packing plant and grain mills. My mother had graciously agreed to buy me, a 12 year old girl, my first cassette tape to play on my new tape player. I picked Purple Rain which was brand new at that point. Needless to say, my unsuspecting mom was not too happy when she heard 'Darling Nikki' and I asked "What does the word 'masturbation' mean?" at the dinner table a few nights later! Prince has been STIMULATING me ever since and for evermore.

Your show in KC was phenomenal at the least...I do not have the words to describe the truth depth of the experience but I'll try. I sat on the fourth row directly in front of the speakers and my ears are still ringing. My husband and I soaked in every last delicious note in true awe of the band, accepting the mild permanent hearing loss as nothing short of a privilege. I have tried on many occasions to explain to non-Prince fans the musical genius and talent of Prince and the NPG and I'm sure it is safe to say that no one could leave that show with any other opinion. Each and every band member added their 'own' to the gorgeous prism of funk. Candy was a special treat (no pun intended). The crowd at the show was interesting with a huge age range and ethnic diversity, a true gathering of Rainbow Children. It was FANtastic to sit in the NPGMC section with all the other FANatics. When I first saw Prince during the sound check, it was such a surreal experience. I was quiet for the longest time thinking "Am I really here? Is this real? Is that REALLY Prince?" During the actual show, I think I nearly wet my pants when Prince began to play 'Anastasia' and my husband was equally thrilled to hear 'Beautiful Ones' live. And 'Sometimes it Snows in April'...my heart momentarily stopped. The old tunes are always welcome friends but the new funk is spectacular live. It is nice to have the new tunes on CD but my stereo does not compare in any way to the brilliance I experienced live.

When Prince finally left the stage for the last time, I felt sad as though I had just watched an old and dear friend depart on a long journey mixed with great anticipation of his return. I can not wait to hear the future from Prince and NPG. It will be an exciting time in the evolution of Prince.

THANK YOU again for giving us, your fans, this incredible intimate experience and memories that will last a life time.

It wasn't just the music or just the vocals, or lyrics, or message or movements....it was an incredible mesh of magic. Incredible range. Incredible talent.

And, the benefits are membership are phenomenal. In some ways it's like bragging about your lover....should you keep it to yourself? It's tempting to keep the club small so the intimacy remains, but that's selfish. The club is a GREAT deal. What we experienced last night was breath taking. Money well spent...actually an investment. "Behind the scenes". Thank you for sharing that time with the fans.

The man, the music, the message.

I confess I miss the movements (yes, even the pelvic thrusts) but I respect and appreciate Prince's thoughtful new stance / behavior. I've been a fan over twenty years and continue to be impressed. Peace .... and love. =^..^=

from Mark & Carmen

My wife and I have had anxiety about leaving our 13 month old daughter Olivia overnight with someone other than her parents. Well, when I found out that Prince’s caravan of love was swinging by south of Minneapolis (432 miles south in Kansas City) we decided that this was the time to wean our daughter from our personal protection. You see I had been reading all the famreports about the One Night Alone concerts and had to go. When Prince released The Rainbow Children to NPG club members I immediately downloaded it and was BLOWN away! I still get goose bumps whenever I listen to it. So early Friday morning after leaving our baby girl with her big sister and her family we got in our car and cruised down to KC.

We arrived at the sound check and discovered first row center seats which became our seats for the INCREDIBLE concert. Prince truly is the most gifted musical artist in the world! The 2 ˝ hour performance was beyond description. John Blackwell is the baddest drummer in the world!

It’s Saturday now…we just got back home from KC and from picking up Olivia. She hasn’t changed…still the cutest little girl I’ve ever seen. And I am SO glad that we made the trip! Hearing and seeing TRC performed live and having experienced Prince and his troupe of musical genius was well worth the drive to KC.

So, if your city is not on the current tour don’t despair…get in your car or buy a plane ticket and GO!!! You will be musically rewarded!

from Glenda G.

I loved the show Friday night in Kansas City. Prince you were at your best. I love the new music I am going out to get the rainbow children album today. I have been a fan of yours every since I was nine years old and now I am 32 years old and still my love for you and your music is still strong. Last night showed all your musical genius at work. I think that you are the last of the real musicians of our time. Last night Prince did a guitar solo and it sound like Jimi Hendrix soul came inside of him and began playing only thing was it sounded a little better than Jimi Hendrix (No offense to Mr. Hendrix.) but is was the best playing I have ever heard. Thank you Prince for gracing us with your powerful presence and letting us into your beautiful music world, it was a fabulous trip. One more thing I would like to thank Prince for singing the best song that he has ever written ADORE... Yes, I have seen him when he came to Kansas City the last 2 times and he never sang ADORE. He would may sing a little of it but not the whole song. I would be so disappointed because I think that it is the best poem ever wrote the best song ever sung. But last night my dream came true he sung ADORE and there I was 3rd row looking right at him and if felt like he was singing just to me thank you Prince. If last night would have been my last night on earth I would have been satisfied because I finally got the chance in my life to hear him sing the greatest song in the world...... Thank you can't be express enough for the great experience that Prince gave the KC fans last night. The title of the concert One night alone with Prince gives you that feeling because this concert felt so intimate and personal. I felt so good, I finally joined the NPG club. I do not know why I didn't do last year now I know what I have been missing, never again will I be left out.....When the GREAT ONE comes back to Kansas City I will be able to get those front row seats....Please come back soon...

Prince, you have definitely raised the bar many levels in terms of what a true concert experience should be like. Your KC sound-check and two and a half hour show was the most incredible musical and personal experience I've ever had. No one else allows fans the opportunity for special moments like we all had at the sound-check, and I loved every minute of this incredible evening, and cannot wait to see your show again!

Thanks for sharing your brand of funk with this town, we needed it and you all really tore the place up from beginning to end. Love all of the talented musicians you have selected to be in your band, you have great taste, and choosing Candy Dulfer to join your tour was a great decision as she is a talented saxophone player and one extremely sexy funky lady from Amsterdam whom I truly admire a great deal! I have to admit that I was just as excited if not more about seeing Candy as all of the women in the crowd were about seeing you.

Looking forward to the release of Xenophobia, love the title cut you all played at the show, and love the choreography of the sax players the way they move around and involve the crowd as much as possible. Loved the show intro when Candy walked down the aisle soloing on her sax, that was awesome and very exciting!!! Thanks for sharing your wise and true philosophy, and what you said about radio stations and big corporations is totally true and I support and agree with everything you talked about, and can't wait to tune into WNPG radio, bring it on man! Lots of eye candy at the show as expected, you always attract alot of lovely ladies and know what makes them hot!!!

The Friday night KC show and sound-check was the experience of a lifetime and the seats were the best I've had anywhere. I showed up at the Midland Theater (excellent choice of venue) at 3:00pm, and to my surprise I was only number 12 on the NPG waiting list. There were lots of cool people in the line, and as everyone else has in other cities, I met alot of interesting people throughout the show. Thanks to Bruce for coordinating the waiting list and keeping things organized before the sound-check! Special hello to Rebecca from Ohio (you are a fox!), Gilbert from St. Louis (you are cool man!), Tasha with the lovely hair and smile, and the leggy woman sitting next to me in the front row who gave flowers to Prince when I gave flowers to Candy at the beginning of the sound-check (hope you didn't mind that Prince!).

The sound-check started a little after 5:00pm, and the scene when I walked in to the theater was ethereal and very earthy, and when I saw Candy on stage rehearsing I new this was it and was able to sit in the front row on the right-side in front of the horn section and Prince's keyboards. Greatest seats I've ever had thanks to being a member of the NPG club! It was really cool when Prince came out and worked through some very specific pieces of music with the band, and he sat way behind everyone halfway back at one point while singing and talking which was really cool. He seemed to be focused alot on getting Candy integrated with the band since she recently joined the tour, and very specific things with each musician which I was amazed at as they all easily adjusted to his suggestions, and he worked over their sound pretty good for about 90 minutes straight until about 6:30pm when he said see ya later.

The audience interaction was minimal at the beginning, I think everyone including me were totally mesmerized by what was taking place in front of our very own eyes and ears here. People finally started trying to get Prince's attention using questions and comments whenever he would walk by. I was really hoping to get a chance to play guitar at the sound-check as I had an original funk tune in mind I was hoping to play on stage. That would have been awesome, especially to jam on one of Prince's axes which each sounded serious on every tune. Seemed that since someone in the crowd quickly asked if he could jam with you, that it wasn't going to happen because that choice is really up to you if and when that were to happen, which at other shows I had read you allowed your fans to do. Maybe next time I hope!

Since Candy Dulfer is my favorite funky lady and I have been trying to see her live, I could not miss this opportunity to see and hear her play, and hopefully get to meet her. I have been to Holland many times and have seen her father Hans play who is an incredible tenor saxophonist and has an awesome funked-up band as well. In Amsterdam where Candy is from they have alot of fresh flowers everywhere, so when you visit someone there it is a common tradition to bring them fresh flowers, especially the lovely Dutch women.

So before the show I picked up a large assortment of fresh spring flowers and included a card for Candy, and brought it with me to the sound-check. I was hoping I wouldn't have any issues with security, and fortunately flowers were allowed in, and thankfully a woman also showed up with flowers for Prince! When I got to my seat in the front row, I was still holding the flowers and wanted to give them to Candy early on but wasn't sure when to do it as she was rehearsing, and Prince was all over the stage including right in front of me at one point where I was able to tell him what a great choice of venues he selected which he agreed with and was cool.

Then at one point Candy stepped down to chat with Prince up front and I stood up to give her the flowers at that moment from the edge of the stage, which was really cool, except at first I think Prince may have thought they were for him and seemed a bit jealous that I was there to give them to Candy! Fortunately as I said earlier, a sexy woman sitting next to me brought Prince flowers as well and stood up to give them to him at the same time. From that point on in the show though, it seemed that whenever Prince looked over at me he had this look in his eyes like he better be watching me as I was really tuned into Candy and he knew it!

Thankfully at the end of the sound-check (around 6:30pm), Candy picked up her sheet music and flowers and walked over to see me and sat down at the edge of the stage, and I finally got to meet her which was very meaningful2me! I brought all of my CD inserts from the 5 CDs I have of hers and her father Hans, and she graciously signed every one of them for me, and we had a nice chat about how I had missed her in Amsterdam back in February when she was off to tour Japan, and she recognized me from my fan postings on her website (www.candydulfer.nl) which she actually posts replies on as well whenever she has the chance to which is totally cool of her as well. I was even able to speak a little Dutch with her and talked with her about the upcoming North Sea Jazz Festival in July which she will be playing with her awesome band Funky Stuff. Thanks2Candy for coming over to meet me and sharing a personal moment, it was a great experience for me, and thanks for sharing your incredible talent with all of us here in KC! You were geweldig throughout the show!

OK back to Prince and the incredible NPG band, what an incredible performance and sound-check!!! The band spent alot of time rehearsing at this sound-check, seemed like most of the first 90 minutes were spent tweaking the sound of the band very intricately, with interspersed moments of audience Q&A and interaction with the man himself which was awesome. He went through many guitars in the sound-check, and his guitar-tech was located in front of the stage at all times which was cool as I was able to meet him as well, and asked him which strings Prince uses and recommends as I also am a guitar player and was curious to know what they were using. He told me that Prince uses DR strings (.009 to .042), although he personally recommended D'Addarios which is what I use so I thought that was cool.

To my surprise no one from the audience went on stage during the sound-check, as I had read about in previous shows on the NPG site. At one point someone asked if he could jam with Prince, and Prince replied for him to be patient, that he will get a chance to jam, but it never happened, and it seemed as if that killed the chance of anyone getting a chance to jam including me :-( I had an original funk tune prepared and was hoping to play on stage as well but it didn't happen, and around 6:30pm Prince said see you later to everyone and the sound-check was over. Still I was extremely grateful for the opportunity to meet Candy Dulfer at this point in the show which was a totally memorable experience to me!

At 8:00pm Prince came out in full force and it was powerful! They started with Candy soloing on sax while walking down the aisle from behind us, and she walked up on stage looking incredibly sexy in a black-sequined sleeveless outfit while moving and grooving to every beat! Prince came out on stage jamming bigtime while wearing burgundy-colored slacks and cream-colored jacket. The band was totally awesome, with special mention to the horn section featuring Candy, Maceo Parker, and an incredible trombone player whose name I don't know at the moment. Rhonda on bass is unbelievable, she is multi-talented and plays an awesome funk bass! Excellent drumming of course as well as keyboards, and Prince's guitar wizardry and chord changes/lead licks were very well laid out on every tune. Very inspirational to us guitar players! This was a seriously funked-up show with excellent audio/visuals, and the acoustics of the show were dynamite.

Prince and NPG played for two and a half hours, including some great new tunes from the soon to be released Xenophobia (loved the live version of the title cut!), alot of great tunes from the Rainbow Children CD which I really enjoyed, and some great piano-work and classics towards the end. Prince sure does know how to jam on guitar I must say! Man does he mix it up, chord changes and screaming lead riffs kept me entertained throughout the show, whenever I didn't have my eyes and ears tuned into what Candy was doing, she is a great addition to the NPG band!!! Thanks for bringing her to KC as part of your show, you obviously have great taste in women and music :-)

At one point in the show Prince brought up some women from the audience to dance on stage during 1-2 songs, and then asked Candy to pick someone on stage to join her. When said this he was looking right at me and I was really hoping she would have picked me, but she chose a guy from the center of the front row, and that lucky guy got to groove on stage with her for a song or two. I was bummed out that she didn't pick me to join her on stage, as I love to dance and that would have been the icing on the cake for me at the show. Still it was great to get to meet her at the sound-check, and during the show she winked at me several times which was really cool to be so close and get to interact with her!

Sadly there was no after-party which was disappointing since it was a beautiful Friday night in KC, and there are many places they could have migrated to for an after-party which would have been great from what I have read about in previous shows. During the sound-check when I met Candy, I asked her if there would be an after-party, and she said probably not because they had to hit the road later that same night to make it down to Houston for the Sunday show. They have a pretty tight schedule which must get rough at times, and when I asked Candy if she had time to eat dinner before the show she said they didn't, and she had to have an ear transmitter fitted for her before the show. Sure wish there had been an after-party, but I do understand and still felt totally satisfied by the experiences of the sound-check and the phenomenal 2.5 hour performance!

So in summary the Friday night Prince show in KC was a musical experience of a lifetime to me! I am glad to be a member of NPG and thanks to Prince for such awesome front-row seats and for putting on one incredible show from beginning to end. I look forward to Xenophobia, and really enjoyed getting to meet Candy Dulfer and hear her perform with your band which was phenomenal. Certainly will do my best to see your show in another city this year, and hope to see Candy with her band at the North Sea Jazz Festival in July in Holland!

Peace and love to all of the local NPG members that I met at the show, you all were really cool, keep in touch now and hope to see you all around town again soon. Prince U-THE-MAN, and you really brought the house down on Friday night which was a really cool thing to experience up close. I thank you again and will never forget that evening, and all other concerts I attend in the future won't compare at all to what you offered the fans during your show, keep it up man and more power to you Bro!

Hope2seeU again sometime real soon, have a wonderful tour, and Peace2U and all NPG!

Still funked up from the show,
Stuart H.

Here are a few more things I forgot to include in my previous review of the KC show fyi that I wanted to post as well...

I forgot to mention how cool it was towards the end of the show when Prince's guitar tech passed out tambourines and mariachis to the NPG members in the front row to be able to participate in the songs and make some noise to the beat which was alot of fun! Great idea and I know everyone who got to join in on the action sure had fun being involved.

Also to Prince, one thing I would have liked at the end of the encores would be to bring out all of the band on stage so we could give them much due applause and see them once more before leaving the set. Seemed like the horn section disappeared at the end and I would have loved to seen Candy once more with Maceo and the trombone player as they all did a wonderful job in your band and deserve the applause, credit and attention at the end!

This show was the most energized and funked up I have ever seen, the seats were the greatest, and thanks for sharing some very special moments with all of us at the sound-check, that was the greatest musical experience and it was an honor to get to see you at work with the most awesome collection of musicians on the planet! I also support you in everything you are actively promoting, since you have so much power in this world you have the ability to influence alot of people, and you are right on in all of the causes you support. More power to you for doing your own thing and setting the standard in how the music business should be run. Real music is what it's all about, and your music says it all.

Best wishes to Prince, Candy and everyone in the band for a successful and enjoyable tour in 2002! To all NPG fans, you are in for a serious treat at this show, this one will make all other shows you go to seem dull compared to what Prince's shows offer the fans. Can't wait to buy Xenophobia soon too, and as always Prince, you are way ahead of everyone in many ways, and I sincerely thank you for bringing your incredible show to Kansas City. I especially loved meeting Candy at the end of the sound-check, she is hot and I have been a loyal fan of hers now for many years, so thanks for including her in your awesome band and bringing her along with you, it was a night I'll never forget !!!

Peace and Love2Uall,

Stuart

That was the 7th time we have seen Prince, and unbelievably he just gets better! How is that possible? I do not know, but membership in the NPG Music Club really does have its privileges! The sound check was one of the best times we have ever had. What a treat! We came to see Prince at the first Celebration nearly two years ago in Minneapolis, and last night ranks right up there with that. You continue to inspire us with your musical genius. The band was awesome, and so are you, Prince. We could not believe it when you sang, "Sometimes it snows in April"! It just does not get any better than that! We are trying to save up our money now to come and see the show again. I will sell the shirt off my back to do it. Wait, I am wearing my concert shirt, never mind! Thank you for one night alone with you, God willing there will be more.

I had the pleasure of witnessing Prince's relentless talent in K.C. It was no surprise to me that I left there feeling ignited. The emotion Prince exudes through his music is something that causes me to sit back in awe. There are few who walk this earth that have been blessed with such amazing talent and anytime that talent comes anywhere near me I will be there. I want to thank you, Prince, for doing what you do so well. Thank you for sharing your gift because it does spread happiness. Thank you for sharing your love for God for that is what we all need to be doing. Thank you for giving me my 'fix'!

AT LAST! true muscians on stage. LIVE. The soundcheck was cool. The greatest musicans on earth were in K.C. last night and I got to see them live and up close. The keyboard player from Brazil(Renado?) was excellent, mad skills on them boards. Candy, Maceo, and trombone player got off. But much, much, respect goes to John Blackwell. That Brutha is in zone all by himself. I dug the part in the show when he had the double pedals on the kick goin while he was combin his hair. Also noticed how he was spinnin his sticks and hittin symbols and the snare on time. Prince of course had ALL the ladies in the palm of his hand as usual. Prince is a inspiration for all of us short bruthaz. At the soundcheck I noticed him with a FINE lady. Hope to see yall next year or sooner.

Prince & NPG,

I took a co-worker to the set on Friday, April 12, 2002. I could not have enjoyed anything more. Unfortunately, I do not have a computer at home, so I was out of the loop on the NPG website.. although I had heard about it. I just wanted to express my sincere appreciation for coming to Kansas City. It was a beautiful experience.

My co-worker, Mic Gehring said thank you so many times.. The joy expressed in his face was indescribable. He said that it was a religious experience for him. He recently went through a break up and was found God through praying for comfort. He also recently lost his mother. God changes us all if we allow Him the chance to work through us.

It is unfortunate for us as a people that we usually have to go through a serious trial before we come to Him. Good for us he is always there.. with open arms.

I was raised in the church and not unlike a lot of us I became disengaged. I am now raising my granddaughter, Dakota Jade at the ripe old age of 40. The trials come and we must know from where comes our strength.

My goal is to save up so that I can become a NPG member before the year is out. My present to myself!

May God continue to bless you and your music ministry!

Thank you!!!!

Wow! What a fabulous show. The new stuff was excellent. The old school... well, I do believe that many of my favorites were played. Do Me Baby. Why Don't You Call Me Anymore. And ending with Anastasia. I had forgotten how much I really liked that song. Not being a member of the "club" but being a true fan of the Prince, I really enjoyed the show. I can't wait for him to come back to Kansas City.

I am still in awe. Although I've been a Prince fan for 15 years, this is the first time I've been able to see one of his concerts. I am still amazed at the caliber of musicians he has with him. I've never heard such beautiful sounds as I heard last night. The horns, the drums, oh my goodness!!!! John Blackwell is simply fantastic. Candy definitely still has that saxuality. Maceo, good God yall. Jump back let me kiss myself. Rhonda was thumpin away. Renato, electrifying. And of course Prince was jammin on the guitar and singin' with a voice that could make the angels cry. Not being a NPG member I was in the balcony. It was the second row of the balcony so it was all good. I swear I thought that thing was gonna collapse. The new music was incredible. It was mixed with just enough of the old stuff to keep the "purple rain" fans happy. I'm definitely anticipating next year when I will be in the NPG member seats. Thank you for an unbeleivable experience.

Just wanted to let you know that the Kansas City show was fantastic!! My girlfriend and I had a wonderful evening thanks to being members of the NPG Music Club. The soundcheck was a LOT longer than I expected, and it was nice to see Prince in his environment. He played the song Peach during the soundcheck, and that in itself made the night worth it.
The new material was great!!
Thanks again for the wonderful evening!! It will be a memory never forgotten!!
