"Slammin'" show! Unfortunately, I went 2 the concert alone, but fortunately, I wasn't alone once I got there...not with all the other members I was surrounded by. I was so stoked 2 hear "Starfish & Coffee", something I've ALWAYS wanted 2 hear him sing in concert (I've been 2 almost a dozen now). I even remember telling the guy next 2 me that I've always wanted 2 hear him sing it. Even though I wasn't feeling my best that night, I got down & jammed with every1 else. He is so inspiring & mesmerizing. He would b so cool 2 hang out with. He seems like he has such a great personality!

i thought the oakland show was off the hook! prince you are a musical genius! i remember when you grabed my hand in the front row, i wanted to ask you if i could do something different, not dance on stage, not sung to, but to actually do a duet with you! i thought that would be way cool and original! so i will leave that up to you next concerts to decide. i loved all your songs especially the olds ones. it seemed like you were really singing from the heart. some songs brought tears to my eyes. keep making good music. love christina

I am not good at writting reviews but,I will give it a shot anywayz. This was my 7th show and it's never too long to wait in line.I get there a.s.a.p.I felt really special being a part of the club this time around being that I watched in want the last time members went into the soundcheck without me.NOT this time I got there early enough to get a seat in the 6th row.The Paramount was beautiful but, the looks of that talented man were better.I am so happy for Prince and the new direction his life has gone.Although many can't stand to see you happy more than that they should hate to see you sad. You win some, you lose some.I don't know if Prince heard me but, sometime during the soundcheck I tried to be heard and yelled out "Stockton!" to voice where I am from. Some laughed.I truly felt priviledged to be able to enter in early & be a part of the soundcheck which was great to hear him jammin' "The Ghetto" I think I was one of the very few who knew that song right off the start.I sure appreciated the intimate venue and we got one here in Stockton too (hint, hint) The Time (w/Morris Day) played it(The Fox Theatre) not long ago too.The concert was jumpin' literally brotha :) I came home beat down from all the dancin' and singin' and shakin' my pants so to speak ! Awesome performance in guitar and piano work.I cried so many joyful tears there. My heart was touched & am glad we have grown together both musically and spiritually.I can't wait for the Celebration this year that I'll be attending for the first time even though I am scared to fly & never have ! I was also the girl who answered your "Is it better to be a leader or follower?" question right but, then someone much closer to the front said it.Oh,well it's nice just to be heard. All the many songs that were done were wonderful.I know them all so it's great to hear them. The highlight for me was Joy In repetition because how true is that when your listening to such positivity ! Much Love Yours truly Laura Parra/Saffireseven

We want to send out a huge thank you and a huge hug full of love to Prince and NPG. That was such an uplifting and spiritual experience at a time when we needed it. My husband and I have been on such a natural high since the concert. What a bright shining light you are in what so many people see as such a dark world right now. You continue to blow us away with your unprecedented talent. You are truly blessed and I know GOD is smiling down at you! The feeling of unconditional love in that room was beyond words! We can't wait to see you again and are so grateful we became fam members.

With all our LOVE,
Gary & Kelli (GWKC)

Ok, my first Prince album was 1978...I was 10 or 11 yrs young. Raised in a house where top 40 radio was not played. I understood exactly what Prince meant by remember when you turn on your radio and hear EW&F, Rufus w/Chaka Khan and of course Stevie Wonder.
Prince is the musician of my time....Michael Who?????..
I have always said don't be put off by the so-called "public mainstream"..He is master musician...Pay attention or you'll miss something.

Well twenty something odd albums(who's counting) & countless shows later, I have always come to expect nothing less than a beyond great performances from Prince. He set a very high standard for live shows. I was 13 when 1999 rolled into town.
OK, well once again I was proven right....I am not a "fan" in the obsessive way about the person or image and all that other stuff that comes with so-called FAME....It's ALL about the music for me...Always!! Prince, Rhonda, Neto(please excuse miss-spell if so), John, Maceo, Greg & Tour Crew.....THANK YOU MANY TIMES OVER!!!! The experience from Oakland show just once again showed not only the love you have for your "fams",(yes I'm a member too) but the love of what you do and whom you do it with came through. All my favorite rarities, masterful musicianship...It just doesn't get any better by anyone old or new......REPEAT....ANYONE!! This was the show I have waited to see all these years.
All I ask (dare I?) is you just continue doing what you do....I appreciate all the different direction and sounds the music has taken. We are here and ready to listen and experience with you. "Pay attention people or you'll miss the ride of a lifetime...literally". What a wonderful place to be 25 years later. Still enjoying the music as if it wasn't that long ago.

See you over the next 20 years....Looking forward to it.

WOW!! What a great way to treat your fans. My husband and I was so impressed. This could have been called a fan appreciation concert. We have not missed a single northern Californian concert since Purple Rain and this time we had the greatest seats. Thanks to the other members for offering food and drinks in the line and also to the staff members for taking numbers so no one could crowd. The paramount was beautiful and the way we were treated was extraordinary. Our favorite part of any Prince concert is when he just sits at the piano and sings which he did a lot in Oakland. It was magic (like always). We were a little disappointed that there was not an after party. (since we have never been to one) but I can understand because he must have been tired after entertaining us so long. We want to send a special thanks to the ushers for keeping others from the isles so we could see. Love to Prince and all the NPG members. Hope to see all of you soon

Prince at the Paramount was a display of an artist continuing to evolve. Gone was the song and dance routines of recent tours. This was a show which highlighted Prince at his purest as a musician along with his bandmates. Jazz overtures throughout the nite especially the cuts from the Rainbow Children. Highlites from the soundcheck included Dorthy Parker, She Loves Me 4 Me (this cut was omitted from the concert show which needs to heard. Brilliant jewel of a song), a rockin version of Cream, at one point the front row was showing out song titles for Prince to play and he said "Rember I'm the chef and I feed you" which brought out a roar of applause. Thanks Prince for giving back to us after all these years of loyal support and allowing us to hear the soundchecks. The NPG Music Club rules. The concert reminded me of the electic side of Prince, when his audience was challenged by his material. For those of us can remember when Prince released Around the World in a Day and Parade those records sounded different than what we had heard before and they were even funkier in concert. The Rainbow Children album is in that same realm its different than what's come before and it's even funkier in concert. For the full blown out tour that's coming this summer we need to hear the whole Rainbow Children in Concert because it shows so many different sides of Prince the Artist. Highlights of the concert show were A Case of You, When you were Mine, great Piano Medley which included amongst the cuts Wanna be your love, Sometimes it Snows in April, Nothing Compares to you, Condition of the Heart and Adore. Rarely played song Free from the 1999 album was riveting. The old school cuts included RollerCoaster and Delphonics LaLaLaLa I Love you, which has been on my wish list to hear since I heard it off the Emancipation record. A Case of You was also a treat. A few cuts were played that we're off any of the released albums which made you really appreciate the show. The whole show lasted 3 hours and being played at the historical Paramount Theatre made it even more special. This is the Prince I remember, the artist who challenged himself and his loyal listeners with his music. Radio has been dead for years. Keep on making the music that inspires you and we will be there to show our appreciation.

Once again, your show was off the hook! I am always very impressed by your ability to transform, and I have witnessed your growth over the years. To grow closer to God is the ultimate experience, and to bring others closer to God earns u the title of "1 worthy of praise".

u asked a very important question...what's in a name? i hope this questions penetrates the hearts and the minds of those of us that were present that evening.

Fly in your red suit, your old school tunes had me rock'n! Bringing the truth in the form of multimedia added a lot of flava! Thanks for having the courage to give of your Higher Self in the way that you do. U are a very special soul.

This show was the BEST I've ever seen! I think the Oakland Soundcheck was better last year (the very first one, btw) because he talked more to us and played more songs. This soundcheck was more of a jam session, but I loved it when we all got up and started dancing!

I honestly didn't know what to expect because I purposely tried not to read in too much detail the other cities' shows. Not being the biggest jazz fan, I was thinking it was gonna be more of (again) a jam session of sorts. It did actually start out that way, but when the FUNK hit, it tore through the gorgeous Paramount Theatre like a Minneapolis snow storm! I was overwhelmed with seeing and hearing TRC LIVE! P gave me a whole new appreciation for it! I think the visuals added depth to the show and of course to what Prince was singing and talking about.

There are way too many details to remember, but overall Prince seemed more mature and yet back to his silly self at the same time! I loved when he was talking about you know how we all have that one drunk uncle who dances like this and proceeded to dance like an old drunk man, sticking his booty out and kinda jerking around off-beat! It was soo funny! I love when he's playful like that! And, what about when he brought up that elderly man to dance, that was some funny stuff!

Prince noticed Bobby's long purple fur coat at Souncheck, so when he said something like, "Hey, Pimp u need to get up here and dance", I knew it was 'bout to be ON! Everybody started saying, "GO BOBBY, GO BOBBY", so when P said, Oakland, do u claim him?" There was no doubt, Bobby had almost as many fans as he does ;) Prince asked a girl on stage, but she was actually too shy and started crying, it was really touching. Everyone kept trying to get her to go, up I even practically pushed her (sorry, girl if you're reading this, it was all in love). Like I said, she started crying and Prince mentioned it and said, "bless your heart" with a smile. He later sang "Strange Relationship" and when he says, "I don't wanna make you cry", he looked right over and pointed to her....I'm sure that was just as nice as if she'd gone on stage.

Since she didn't want to go, my girl Vickie got chosen and was up there with Bobby for quite a few songs...GO VICKIE, GO VICKIE! I won't tell you how early she got out there, but let's just say that for all of us that were the first ones out there yesterday morning and had to go through the whole Line-up D-R-A-M-A....it was sooo worth it, witnessing that show Font Row! And I'm soo happy Vickie got devirginized ;)

There are so many details to remember that as I admitted a couple days ago, I'll leave the Prince Show Reviews to the experts, however I agree with Alan D. that this show had the BEST set list I've ever had the honor of witnessing!!! And was it me, or did Prince's voice seem to sound like Buttah?!?! Like cherry wine, he keeps getting better with time....

Being that ONA tour is jazzy, I'd absolutely LOVE to see Prince shock it with some SALSA FLAVA at the Celebration this year!!!

Love, Truth, and Harmony,
GiGi aka the SxyRican :)

I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by this show. Unbelievable! I've never danced, smiled & felt so free in my entire life! It's truly an honor to witness this man at work - he looks so happy up there & we couldn't ask for a better place to be than in his house!!! This was hands down THE BEST Prince show I've EVER attended. I brought a friend with me - it was his first P show ever! He was in a daze ALL NIGHT & is completely turned out now...

The setlist is perfect - gives you just enough time to shake it, cool down & shake it all over again! He had to tell us to sit down!!! His voice is amazing, so clear, FLAWLESS especially on Avalanche. That song is great - I just stared @ him in awe, floored. Plus Maceo played from the balcony & his solo was incredible - his applause went LONG after that, couldn't even hear P singing for a few seconds 'cause we were loving Maceo so much!

PRINCE: if you read this, Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! You have a beautiful spirit and I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for sharing it with all of us! I feel lucky to share the planet with you b/c you bring me & so many others SO much joy - you're an amazing gift to the world. I see you blushing!

I loved hearing Xenophobia & I'm looking forward to the album - it sounded great!!!

Anyone reading this who hasn't seen ONA: RUN to see this show! Shake out your purses, get an advance on your paycheck, move to another state, break out of jail - just GO! You WILL NOT be sorry... The memories will keep you high for months!!! :)

from Truthseeker

First and foremost I would like to say thank you to Prince and the NPG! It was definitely worth the wait! The perks just keep getting better and better. Last year I had 3rd row center seats, and this time I got front row center! It was wonderful to see old friends and meet a lot of new ones. I love being part of the club. It allows you to be surrounded by people who share the same love for the MUSIC!!

This concert was filled with a wonderful assortment of old, new, rarely, or never heard live songs before.(At least for me) Prince knew just how far he could take us, and then graciously allowed us to take our seats, cool off and enjoy the ride.

I really feel for my girl who was called on stage, but was unable to go due to her arthritis. Believe me, she is still in the clouds. Many props to my old friend Bobby, and my new one Vicki! You two really worked it on stage.
You made all us Bay Area folks proud.

I really enjoyed getting an up close look at what is really happening during the concert. It is interesting on how much you notice when you are right up front, because it is a totally different experience than when you are enveloped in the crowd.

The only thing that saddened me was when the crowd wasn't getting what Prince was trying to tell them. Especially during Joy In Repetition and Purple Rain. They were too busy singing and trying to get his attention.
They missed his message. Yes there were some that were tellin' him to "preach it", "tell it" and agreeing with him, but unfortunately a lot of those people are the ones that when they are outside of the venue they are being lewd, crude, and rude. I am so thankful that they believe, but they should practice what they preach all of the time. Not just when they think someone is watching, because God is always watching! I just don't understand how people can turn it on and off so easily. It should be a part of you. (Just venting)

I was disappointed that there wasn't an after party, but have to admit that I was a bit relieved. I was too tired from the whole day's experience, and what a wonderful one it was. I am definitely revved up for the Celebration in June. I think that the members should get some kind of special privileges, if not a private Celebration. That is the whole point of the club, right?

Thanks for allowing me to share a wonderful One Nite Alone with you Prince, and the rest of the NPGMC members! See you in June!!

Love & Happiness Always,
Truthseeker

Okay, whether you see this or not I just got to say this:

I am so going to look you up in the Paradise...

Thank you so much for an incredible evening. I am still reeling from it all. Without a doubt it was the most fun I have had in a long time...You were amazing!!!

But, honey, what's up with only one night for the entire bay area? You have got to come back for an encore, please!!!! And to the south bay; I know so many people that would have thrilled as I did to see you, but couldn't make it midweek up to Oakland. And besides, I mean, I'm not really complaining, ninth row was all right, but I want front and center. Come on, you got to at least consider...

One night is not even enough!!!

We are so blessed to have the truth and the opportunity to cultivate a genuine relationship with God. All thanks and praises to Jehovah that he gives us his truth and has given his precious son so that we can have true peace and harmony now and that we can very soon experience the "real life".

Thank you for a truly funky time...And you are so right, there is joy in repetition. Forever is a long time, darling.

Much Love,
Oncidium

from Marc...

I must admit, that I personally prefer the more mainstream of his music, not necessarily the "hitz" but I do not yet really comprehend his musical genius like the "Rainbow Children" album or "Lovesexy" etc.. that being said, Oh my ---! did he take it to another level last night at the Paramount. What a journey, so many uplifting and thought provoking moments, it was unlike any experience I've ever had. At one point during the show I found myself completely exhausted, literally could not get up. He then came out for his "unplugged set" just him and his keyboard, and I was so moved at the sheer beauty of his music and soul that I was re energized, I found myself jumping and screaming like a little kid, there are no wordz that can convey the depth and meaning of an experience like Prince...

Prince is the "Albert Einstein" of music, truly a Genius, A man among men, All I can say is thank you Prince... In a world such as this, there is still grace and beauty to be experienced...

PS. Thank you to all the NPG Family, Such a diversified and multi-cultural gathering of people, I only wish the world could come together as one, like we did the other night...

How high are we now??

What a great time at the Paramount on Wednesday night. My thanks to V for doing the work all day!!...trying to keep people honest in line...(some folks just didn't care about honesty and cut anyway) People who brought food also thank you!! Gorgeous venue...did feel like church with everyone singing the "harmony's" still singing in my mind.Until we got fired that is! I would like to hear and God Created Woman would be a treat live..course, you're the chef...(I'm still hungry) My son wants a show with his mom (me) he is almost 15 , and I am thrilled he wants to hang with me.This can't last much longer so I intend to enjoy our time. So we are coming to Portland,Or for the gig. The sound was muddy in front, couldn't understand what was said in sound check.Still, the experience of up front is terrific. For great sound, you have to find the sweet spot in the hall. Over all, the entire day and night was just joyful! And yes, I was hoping to redeem ourselves on the verse to Paisley Park too!

peace and music and NPGMC,

Ok, so I see Bobby (yeah, our Bay NPG pimp!) the day the LA tickets went on sale. "Les," he said solemnly, "he's not coming here." Ah, well --- Concord wouldn't have been the perfect place, anyway. And I had Ruby Skye and then the soundcheck and the Fillmore last year.

But in my heart I KNEW Prince wouldn't do us like that.

No, you did us juuuuuust right. I was right there -- whether funking it up right along with you or kicking back and letting you do all the work, I was transfixed and transported all night. Ruby Skye and last year's Fillmore Show were great, but this was un%^&$believable (oops, sorry!).

The NPG Music Club has been the greatest musical adventure of my life.

All the best to you, my beautiful brother.

Les (San francisco)

P.S. Your new "version" of Joy in Repetion helped me put my finger on just why it is I love my husband so much. Thanks for that.

from Greg,

Great show in Oakland. Prince is absolutely magnificent. I was in awe at his guitar and piano playing. The soundcheck was great and the concert was one of the best ever. Highlights were The Rainbow Children, 1+1+1=3, Take me with u, Adore, Muse 2 the pharoah and Purple Rain on the piano. As for the soundcheck Cream and Du u lie? blew me away. Thanks for the great show! Peace and Love!

I just want to say. The Oakland show blow me away. I always wanted to see him sing Free wow what a song. Live its even better. And at the state we are in with the war the words have so much meaning even today. And when he sang sometimes it snows in April wow. Prince can sing! I drove from Sacramento to see him and on the way home I could not stop talking about him. I took my sister and she is now a prince fan too. Prince Keep up the good work you truly are a musical genius. Just seeing you and hearing your music makes me forget all my problems. Thanks Prince for being you. Come to Sacramento I know a lot of people waiting to see you here and I of course will be there too.

All I want to do is thank Prince for a wonderful music filled night. The Oakland show is the best concert that I have ever attended. Although the aftershow at The Filmore was great, the show at The Paramount was better. Prince would take the audience almost to the brink of orgasm and then he would shift gears and have us sit down. And just as we were comfortable in our plush rockers he would downshift, grab his guitar and have us back in a frenzy. I think we, as an audience were great. We knew the words to the songs, except for one minor miscue when the first five rows were fired. Again, I would just like to thank Prince and the NPG for the one of the best times I have ever had in my life. I will remember this for a long very time. I also would like to give a shout out to GiGi and Angie!
PS. I took someone who had never been to a Prince concert before. Needless to say, he will soon be a new member.

Muchos Gracias

Last night was off the hinges!!!
Thanks for "DJ'ing" such a phenomenal experience. Paramount is right!!! Fitting location for Prince and the NPG...

Preparing for the show ... I told myself that if given the chance, I would see if U could play "Alexa de Paris" Even though that joint was not on the Program, I came away from last night's Paramount Show with enuff to last a lifetime!

P - U tow up da flow. I enjoyed checkin' out your "wrecka stow" [aka Under the Cherry Moon]

Thanks Prince & I look forward to seeing U back in the City by the Bay sometime soon!

from Lennore

I've been somehow connected since 9-16-78. No one else draws me. Wisdom, the search for truth and knowledge is the magnet that has pulled and kept me all of these years. Any other concert, I don't care where I sit or who else is there. But a Prince concert, my husband and three kids roll out the purple royale, I depart, with them in mind and spirit because for a night or 5 days, I'm out. Row 4, my right-hand side and still lovin' it!!!

I put myself in an immediate disadvantage by forming expectations of what the sound check would be like (based on other fam reports). Oaktown's was in my early opinion short and not quite intimate. I realized this morning, that it was MY expectation that formed such an opinion. Our sound check was exclusive (as they all are), to OUR CITY.

Prince had family with him, a rather nice sized crew...which means lots of individuals to take care of, including us. This one I can take over my GranMama's house. Things have once again taken a turn and he must deal. I don't pitty him at all, he is strong and will continue to stand. Let it be known that I will work my shift to help you continue to stand.

The concert was off-the-hook (as usual). I brought my sister LaTanya. She said, "It must be nice not to worry about the PG&E bill." I advised her to look at the big picture: He's got to make sure that all of his folks are able to pay THEIR PG&E bill, it's not always about him..look at the broader spectrum. My friend is on a mission and has quite a vision: making the world a better place, through spirit and music. The task only SOUNDS easy..we all have lots of work to do.

In any event, I'll see everyone at the Celebration. Be spiritual, healthy and true. GOD and Greetings from Oaktown!

I would love to send some gratuity to PRINCE and NPG. "There's joy in repetition"!!!!! REAL music was revealed in a Paramount style. I must thank you for singing my song "Adore". This was the best concert, I have ever seen! I have witness Ms. Badu at the same theatre singing "Didn't Cha Know", NPG gave it that Purplicious style. I am proud to be part of the NPG music club. The club offers so much!!! The soundcheck and VIP seating. "CREAM" also transpired during soundcheck!!! =+) Last but not least, I want ta thank ya for the words you resited on LOVE, and about a woman's love to Jehovah....FIRST! AMEN!!
Peace out...the revelation~

PS ~ I'm diggin my "One Night Alone....with Prince" tee-shirt. I can't wait for Celebration details. Last year was BEAUTIFUL!!

from the boy in the 15th row, center aisle . . .

The first half of the show was 99% new stuff. I became a Prince fan all over again. Watching people hear and feel those messages was AMAZING. Thank you for doing the new stuff, and thank that band for doing it all so well!
"Y'all here to get your Purple Rain on tonight?"
Crowd: YEAH!!!!!!!!!
"Well you came to the wrong place."

Dig that! The only thing that bugged me was that they did Purple - freakin - Rain anyway later on. Could have gone without it. If I wanna hear that song, I'll hit the CD.

The set Prince did all by himself from the keys was incredible. Really gave the crowd what it wanted. Played with the crowd.

Thanks y'all!

First I would like to thank Prince, the NPG for coming and Rocking the Paramont Theater in Oakland California. The soundcheck was a great experience, one not to be missed. The show was not only musically entertaining it was educational and inspirational. Like the man said, "Real music by real musicians." And the Love...the Love in that room was felt for miles. Another thing many may not know about Prince is that he is a very funny guy, he had me cracking up at times. I have to say that One Nite Alone with Prince was a night of spiritual cleansing of Truth, Love and Joy.

from an audience member

Last night was the Prince concert I've always hoped to see: three hours of new tunes, old jams, rarities ("The Other Side of the Pillow"), funky covers ("Pass the Peas" with Maceo), and lots and lots of guitar, with the star of the show loose and funny and playing like a man set free from the expectations of recycling his old hits. As many others have noted, "The Rainbow Children" material really takes flight in concert with the NPG -- what a band! -- roaring away.

Just a word to the folks out there who have long enjoyed Prince's music but were put off by the religious message of "The Rainbow Children": Don't let those misgivings stop you from catching Prince at his peak. Yes, he devoted portions of "Joy in Repetition" and "Purple Rain" to some testifying, but it was non-coercive and clearly came from the heart.

from Melissa

There are very few words to describe the many emotions that flooded my heart and mind last night and still today. My life-long dream of seeing Prince in concert was more than I could handle and exactly what I'd dreamed it would be. I was knocked off my feet by your current music and moved to tears to hear all of my old, unforgettable favorites. The return of "real music by real musicians" sent me back to a different time and place. Music that speaks to the people and shows true social awareness is a welcomed change from many of the things we here on the radio today. It was refreshing to listen and actually hear some truth.

I am blessed to have had such an opportunity and am so thankful that I was able to (at least for one night) be in the same room as a living legend. One who has definitely impacted my life throughout the years in ways that could take years to explain.

God Bless!!

Melissa -- Oakland

There is Joy in Repetition. What an amazing performance. Repeat after me. I will always see Prince when he tours. Beautiful harmony, delicious guitar licks and soulful horns made my date melt with chills. Thank you for a life less ordinary, because that was a life changing event if ever there was one.

If signing on as a member and forking over $100.00 is all I had to do to see Prince as close as I was in this awe-inspiring building, I would have done it much sooner! I know membership has its privileges, but come on! I am spoiled for life, and I can't imagine missing the EYES, the GESTURES, the way you can see he DIGS IT TOO! Yes, we all remember the BIG venues, the try in San Jose, and some of us got a taste last year at Ruby Skye. I usually can figure out a way to be in front, but this was the way to go. This is NOT an AD. Simply put, the show was worth it.
All my youthful-type "groupy-isms" notwithstanding, I am still thinking about the Jeff Beck tone, the Jimi sustain, the sound effects, the lounge-lizard medleys with the purple spotlight and girl BEHIND ME SCREAMING her ass off as if......
I think, though, what I will hold dearest in memory, is watching the wonderful way this man STILL seems to be peaking (how long can this go on)? And how he shares so easily his wonderful sense of well-being, unpretentious command, and the ability to weave personal beliefs throughout the show without missing a beat (no pun intended). Yes, we all were part of his trip to the pulpit, responding to the call, right on cue, clapping when told, standing with every hint of a beat, swaying in trancelike enchantment, hoping it would not end soon. It didn't. For those who are still contemplating whether or not to go to this show, better not think about it..he doesn't give you too much time, anyway. And to avoid having to call the baby-sitter from your cell (as he instructed us to do) just book out a VERY long night, kick back and enjoy the ride.

"Joy in repetition". No matter how many shows I go to, there is always a feeling as though it is my first one. The show last night was fantastic. I'm sure many minds were elevated last night (by the music and education). Thank you Prince for sharing your talent and knowledge. Thank you NPG for putting on an event that all ages and types can enjoy. I can't wait till June!

WOW!! Where do I begin? Last nite's show was the ultimate Prince/NPG experience! This was my 7th show seeing The Man, and most definilty his greatest thus far.

I got my "all access" pass into the sound check and it was like having our own private concert and conversation with Prince. He talked to the audience, cracked jokes, and played the piano like no body's business!!! Once the show began, about 2 hours later- It WAS ON FOR THE REST OF THE NITE!!! They played for 3 solid hours and all of the hits including most of the "Rainbow Children" album, "Strange Relationship", "Starfish and Coffee", and even a song by Erikah Badu!!!! HEAVEN ON EARTH and MUSIC TO THE EARS AS WELL AS THE SOUL!!!!

Rock on NPG- your fam is listening!!!

Much respect and love,
Ariana

This just in......A Bomb has detonated in Oakland, we have identified the responsible party. It has been confirmed.....His name is PRINCE! . Anyone who was at the show last night knows what I am talking about. I have enjoyed Prince's music since the beginning some 20 or so years ago. I have seen him in concert at least 20 times. Although I am partial to his music and support him fully, I will say to those who have not experienced one of his shows or even written him off. PRINCE HAS RETURNED IN A PHENOMENAL WAY!, last nights show was incredible. Prince eroded twenty years off of me and took me back to the first show I ever seen of him. His guitar playing equals that of Hendrix and his arrangements on the different instruments leave you wondering how this one man possesses so much talent. His band is outstanding. I have never witnessed a drummer like John Blackwell before (For the cities who have not seen the show, you will know what I am talking about when you see it, and the rest of the band is as tight as well). Prince, I must say you made Oakland feel special, thank you, you also interact well with the fams in the audience. The old man dancing was a riot, and the pimp in the White hat was on the one too. And last but not least....Oakland says you get the job as DJ on WNPG radio. Peace....for those of you who have not joined the club do it, It pays to be one. Phoenix, Seattle,& Portland trust me on this, go see this show, it is 5 stars for sure. The TRC played live will leave you in a crazed state of mind, It is unbelievable LIVE! Peace & LOVE, Tony Richardson AKA AURORA DIVINE.

Prince and the NPG never cease to amaze me, It was a great show, I was proud to be a member, because I always bring someone new to a concert with me to introduce people to Prince music. He was off the hook, we danced from the beginning of the show til the end. My friends always leave having a great time and see why Prince is the # 1 artist in my life. The Soundcheck was also a blast, I felt like a member of the band. Keep up the good work Prince and the NPG. Can't wait to see you at the Celebration this year. If anyone is doubting about going to the concert, don't doubt it , go, you will have a blast, this is Prince in rare form, excellent, no doubt about.

Your Loyal NPGMC member, Terry

Hello to all FAM's and Lost cousin's who need to join the club!! I will just start by saying that the Oakland show on Apr 24th, was one of the most (as Prince put it) Harmonious experiences that I have ever been apart of. Prince was the conduit and we are just nFused with the love and soul he brought through with his music. I must say that I have been a fam since 1977 (For U). I been part of this musical and personal discovery that Prince has gone through from the beginning. It is very refreshing that he has allowed us to be apart of his maturation process as a man and as a artist. We (all fams) have been there for U, and will continue to be there for U. Keep putting out the best funky jams that there is. Additionally, keep being that Bcon of light that attracts truth listeners from all over the world. Oakland was just one of many shows that Prince has done that has been what I call spiritual experiences, and there are only a few real artists that have that gift. Prince, Miles Davis, Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker, Oscar Peterson to name a few. All I can say is it pays to be a member in the Club, so join soon!! and If there is one artist that you need to see perform, U must see Prince!! 'cause after him, there will be a long drought before another artist comes along!!... So Prince....Keep us fed as long as you can!!

Electrifying . . . Entrancing . . . Magnetic . . . Sacred . . . Transcendent . . .

I called out “Dorothy Parker,” in the violet silence, and the crowd shot me the “I don’t think so,” look. Thank U Prince, 4 playing the song in its entirety. I believe it was the soul request of the night, B4 “Le Chef,” dressed to the 9’s, started serving up funky-delicious and nutritious NPG treats of his own choosing. Shift #1.

From musical genius 2 spiritual guide extraordinaire, Prince delivered us from the false honor of racists presidents, (Lincoln wasn’t the 1st or the last), and testified 2 the blessed connection between woman and God. He even let the men on the secret that is not a secret. Women need holy stimulation. . . that means 2 touch her spirit, you must make love to her mind. Amen! Thank U Prince, 4 publicly returning the Holy Mother 2 the Trinity (we missed her). Shift #2.

On Wednesday night, at Oakland’s Paramount, there were at least three major, vibrational shifts in energy. The most prominent took place during “Family Name.” Ooowee, #3. You could feel the frequencies separating like an O.J. verdict. Many of us were screaming ”Teach! Preach!” While other’s were visibly / energetically having difficulty integrating the holistic message. The truth may hurt, but it will also set you free!

I was fortunate 2 be in the company of my blood sister Koren, and my new NPG siblings: Kelly from Chicago (who shares my name), and couple: Wildcat, Janine and her husband music connoisseur, John. We were appreciating and harmonizing with the spiritual-political aspect of the Rainbow Children Experience. We were entranced by the rocking, jazzy, funk-symphony, while Prince used the power of the Word 2 harmonize hearts in the hallowed name of the One. No doubt, weeding true believers from those who are merely slaves 2 the rhythm, much like separating the wheat from the chaff.

Even as I was aware of the changing energy in the space, let me B clear that the evening was not about separation. As we discussed in our seats after the sound-check, NPG is about connection. We found ourselves in One of the friendliest, diverse groups of people. In an already multicultural city, the multitude of ages and personal styles gave the moment a cool, urban-village vibe. NPG is about LOVE.

Prince, I am grateful that U stepped up to the plate. The world is full of reluctant messiahs. Please know that many of us are in harmony with U about the dollar bill, stauros, indigo children, the residuals of enslavement, the ladder, God, The 3 in 1, and peace. Some NPG club members are lightworkers, and we want an authentic, truth-full, uplifting message. And we want an afterparty (regardless of les fanatiques). Encore!

PS. I met you on the elevator of Las Vegas’ Aladdin, 12/07/00. No one ever let me look in so deeply B4. Thanks.

I am still mesmerized by last nights show at the Paramount in Oakland. Me and my friend went to the show in Hollywood (which was fabulous), and as soon as we got home to Oakland, we found out Prince would be at the Paramount. Well, I am already broke from the trip to Hollywood, but what did I do? Rush and buy my tickets for the Oakland show! I had too! This time I took my 10 year old son. He is into rap and all of the "fad" performers that are out today. He always says, "Mama, please can we hear something else now??!! Because I usually have my Prince cd's on, old, new, it doesn't matter. In the morning when I'm getting ready for work, while I'm exercising, while I'm cleaning the house.... anyway, after last nights show, he kept saying, "Mama that was tight! Remember when Prince said this and that, remember the guy on the drums..." on and on. And I even heard him today after school singing, " until the end of time, I'll be there for you...."! He's hooked! He has my 2 year old and 5 year old daughters mad because they were not able to go, (they know who Prince is, if a video or song comes on, they come running, "mamma, Prince is on, Prince is on!) Anyway, the show, as usual, was spectacular, as well as Prince of course. We were in the 8th row and we were so close! I could see those beautiful eyes, every face expression, oh my god, talk about major eye candy for a woman!!! I can't believe Prince walked right past us at the beginning of the soundcheck to get on stage. If you only knew how bad I wish I could have stopped him and convinced him to come home with me (nice thought anyway)! You all were fantastic, real music from real musicians, now that is the truth. I was disappointed I was not able to go to the after party (because I had my son with me), but I am glad he got to see real music like that. I will make the next one though! I will see you all the next time you come back (soon, I hope). I was so happy and overwhelmed to hear Adore, Do Me Baby, Girls and Boys, I Wanna Be Your Lover, just to name a few that hit the spot for me. Prince, you and your music are soooo beautiful and perfect, how can anyone sing that good, and be able to play all those instruments so well, and dance so smooth and good, and look like a perfect work of art all at the same time??? Oh my goodness, amazing! I love all of you, the music, and what you represent!! See you soon!

Love and Peace to you Prince and the NPG,
~Maia~

from Eric Guzman (Motown & More),

I can only attempt to express in words the way I felt at the concert Wednesday night. As I looked out into the Paramount, I could feel the unity that brought us all together thru Prince's musical mastermind and the sounds of The NPG. There was Black, White, Latino, Asian, young, and old. We were brought together thru Music & Harmony. For One Nite Alone we were all as ONE. Prince & The NPG has RISEN and the fans were mesmerized by what one man has come to accomplish and ever so graciously allowed us to be enlightened by his presence, thought and talent. I thank you Prince and The NPG for all that you had to give your true fans and I look forward to seeing you at The Celebration. I can honestly say that I left your show with a whole new perspective on the industry and an understanding of life. For one Nite Alone Is all it took to leave me enlightened, educated, exhilarated, entertained and grateful for the TRUTH. Peace & Harmony to all my Brothers and Sisters in The NPG Music Club.............
